Floating Cloud

Japanese maples have been bred to all sorts of extremes: narrow leaves, filigree leaves, tiny leaves, deep red leaves, yellow leaves, etc. One of the most extreme color variations is ‘Ukiguma’. This maple’s leaves open to near white speckled with green and a faint pink blush. As summer goes along, the leaves turn green with white markings and eventually, turn to pink again in the fall before dropping. Striking in the landscape, this maple can burn in the hot sun, so shade during the hottest part of the day is best for it.
