This fungi (or mushroom) is growing from the side of a tree stump (roughly center of photo), was looking like many seashells placed together (white coloured as well on the outside) , until this morning, when I noticed this had happened to it.

I am unsure what has caused it to go flat like this, but suspect an insect or animal out there has had a good feast.
