Who Gives a Fig

I have blipped this tree that grows on the beach twice before - once in full spring leaf, and once in its winter nakedness. There was much speculation about the species. Well, I am pretty much convinced it is a fig tree. I went to take a close-up of the leaves today, and in the heat of the sun it was giving off a strong fig scent. Oddly, though, there is no sign of fruit.
