Tiger Trails

The new Tiger Trails exhibit at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park opened May 24th. This morning monthly donors were treated to a private group visit to the exhibit before the park opened followed by an informative presentation.

It is an impressive, well done exhibit. Lots of opportunities to view the Sumatran Tigers. In the past we were lucky if we even spotted the tigers and they would always be at a distance. Now we are much closer. The photographers do have the challenge of shooting through glass or chain link fence.

This is Teddy. He is the newest tiger at the Safari Park. He arrived in February 2013 from the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo in Indiana.

Delta is the oldest tiger and is mother of two sets of cubs. Her daughters, Joanne and Majel, were born Octobor 2010 and will reach sexual maturity soon. They will be partnered with Teddy.

Her sons are Thomas and Conrad. They were born March 2012. It is likely they will be sent to other zoos for breeding.

What a treat to see the tigers!
