Driving tests

Cars didn't look like this on 1st June 1935 when driving tests became compulsory in the UK! Before this date, anybody could just jump in a car and drive, having had no instruction. The way some people drive today one wonders whether they too have had no instruction and whether they have actually passed a test!

I failed my first driving test, rightly so. I hated changing gear, and every time I pass a particular road in Surbiton I remember how on my test I drove along it in second gear because I didn't want to change up! After more practice I overcame my fear and passed my test, going on to enjoy driving very much. I now have an automatic which helps!
