Group sail on Seamen's Day in Akureyri, N-Iceland

Seamen's Day (Sjómannadagurinn) is held on the first Sunday in June,
except when that coincides with Whitsun, in which case it is delayed by a week. Seamen's Day was first held in Reykjavík in 1938. Its goal is to foster support for fishermen and other sailors, show the nation what they do and to commemorate the drowned. Seamen's Day festivities are held around the country in various different formats and seamen are also honoured for various achievements.
