Quick snap of the cold snap

Just getting sooooo fed up with this snow now. Make it go away. More falling this evening. How do Canadians survive the winter? Some people can't get salt to put down to clear areas round their houses. Today I saw a driveway which looked like it had been coated with curry powder. Wondering if it would be a good way to use up all those dodgy looking old supplies of spices which are in my cupboards - advice anyone?
