The Louvre

Woke up early and out to the local boulangerie to get some fresh croissant, yum! A rather leisurely morning followed and around 11.30 we finally got going. Onto the metro and across the river to visit a shop, and have lunch in a park.

Thinking I’d take the kids home early, Mrs PS and Mamou took off to shop for the afternoon. But the kids and I decided to visit The Louvre, to check out the Mona Lisa. We’d read on TripAdvisor that the best way was to go down via the Carousel, then buy tickets down there, thus avoiding some queues. Worked a treat and in no time we were in. And wow, HUGE! Of course, the first thing we did was make a beeline to the lady, being quite surprised to be honest you could just walk into the room and see it, and within less than 10 minutes of jostling, make it to the front for the self-obligatory selfie … And actually, a little bit bigger than I expected …

The kids weren’t overly enthusiastic looking around the rest of the Louvre, but with some gentle persuasion we spent another hour or so traversing the ages, ending up in Roman sculpture. Hannah then perked up, “all those nude people”, and then many more photos of various appendages … hmmm.

Tired of all that culture, the three of us headed home for an hour before heading out at 6 to meet the girls and a friend who lives in Paris for a drink. One drink and many Euro lighter, it’s certainly not cheap in Paris, off to dinner at a local cafe near Notre Dame.

Kids exhausted, so I took them home early while the three others went on for desert and another vino. I was happy to be in bed! ;-)
