See My Fish, Puffin With Sand Eels

Although we are going up to Shetland in July, we couldn't wait for our seabird fix so we booked on the Isle of May ferry from Anstruther today.

Many people might be surprised by the presence of these little chaps in the Firth of Forth, but the Isle of May has over 40000 breeding pairs in addition to guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes...

There were quite a lot of puffins with sand-eels waiting on the cliff edges and not heading straight back to the burrow - we figured they were on fishing shift and why hurry if the pickings are good? - maybe this is a positive sign for the season.
