iDrip

Thank goodness for digital photography eh? It took 270 shots and lots of trying out settings - I'm still working out what they all mean - to get this one of the drip where I wanted it! :-) There were a fair few that had a drip on, but none where still connected or even so close. Imagine having to shoot that on film? The icicle (and a good many others) are hanging on the back of our house. I took this this morning, but they've been there all day. I should probably have waited for more light... ;-)

Oxfordshire (like most of the UK) remains in the grip of winter (-18C last night) - we still have about a foot of snow in the garden - with a path across the middle to the bird feeder & bath - gotta try our best to keep them fed though I suspect they slope off somewhere at night that has tons of food and probably beer too. The village roads are still white with snow compacted about an inch deep. Seems like it is possible to drive about, but only if you have to.

Just so as I remember when looking back on this when I'm 150 years old, if you find your condensate pipe frozen (its part of a gas boiler) - you can slowly pour boiling water over the pipe where it leaves the house and along it to where ever it goes. Had to do that this morning after the sun failed to melt the frost in the drain pipe. It made some very satisfying crackling sounds of ice melting and then lots of water rushing through as the drain pipe emptied! Hooray!

Life, unlike the drip of an icicle or water through a defrosted pipe, goes a whole lot slower when the weather is like this.
