KOTUKU egreta Alba

This solitary bird seems to return every year - this year its a bit late as I photographed it in March last year. It inhabits the estuary in general but seems to like the Ferry Canal which is where it is seen for the first time this year today.
Lovely bird which holds a significance for New Zealanders in general but Maori in particular. - breeds at Okirito on the west coast but sometimes seen as individuals on the easy coast during winter.
