Skeleton

It's not as if this tree fell in the recent drought. It's been there for ages, but it stands out more now that the grasses are dry and fallen. It's hard to believe that it's only early June. The oak trees have such a beautiful structure that even when dead and prostrate, this tree is rather elegant.

Perhaps it just appeals to my notion that we all have something valuable to contribute in life and deserve to leave behind us some reminder of ourselves.

Although not a bleached skeleton, I hasten to add. Perhaps our words and our pictures are enough….
