Roussillon

Another leisurely, and not being such a nice day, overcast with occasional spits of rain, we didn’t rush out. Eventually we made it out the door, Roussillon and then Abbaye de Sénanque as the day’s prime destinations.

Lovely drive into the Vaucluse and we had a good look around Roussillon. Quite touristy, but pretty amazing. Al the rick is ochre coloured, so quite different to the other towns, literally more vibrant in colour and number of tourists.

A good look around, as it’s an amazing village, and lunch which sadly was just a little average. Then off to the Abbey, via Gordes, which is yet another amazing village, perched on the side and top of a hill. Mad where they are built, but when you think it was to make invasion more difficult, it makes a lot of sense.

Finally, the Abbey. Been here years ago, famous for its lavender. Visited the church this time, which is very different to most other churches. Very plain by comparison, so as not to distract …

Home, then Mrs PS shot out to rent bikes, tomorrow we’re going to assault Mont Ventoux. Got some pretty average hard tail mountain bikes, as opposed to road bikes, but that should make the climbing easier. We’re going to do the “easy” route from Sault.

1280m climbing over 26km, piece of cake ;-)
