On Watch

We met this Harris Hawk and her handler today in Dorchester by the huge buildings of the old Brewery which now has been turned into shops and cafés.
Her role and one of another Hawk is to scare off Sea Gulls deterring them from even thinking of nesting on top of these buildings, where of course ready made meals are easy pickings down on street level.
To be honest I didn't know this was happening around towns. They said as long as they walk around the area flying the birds some of the time at least 3 times a week the Sea Gulls will keep away. Interesting!
