Muddy Maldon

After dropping my nephews off school in Chelmsford, my sister and I went for a drive to Heybridge Basin as we wanted to try the walk to Maldon and back.

We set off from Heybridge Basin along the canal, which was very peaceful (apart from our incessant chatter). We heard a cuckoo...hurrah! It was a lovely walk, apart from a bit where we walked through an industrial estate, but that was only a couple of minutes, then we were by the river in Maldon). We had the essential water and apple coffee and massive slice of victoria sandwich stop, then headed back on a different route, walking along the marshes and ended up back to Heybridge Basin. It was probably about 5 or 6 mile walk...really enjoyable and will definitely do it again.
