It is all a matter of how you ask...

Ask darling son to help thread a hose pipe through a drain pipe and the anticipated response would be pretty lukewarm - perhaps not entirely an unfair response.
Suggest however he might like to use his bow and arrow to fire an arrow with a string attached to pull the hosepipe through and suddenly there is real enthusiasm.
And to be fair, it worked first time and was probably the easiest way of doing it.
