WE were among the lucky ones.

I was 1 yr: 10 months: 15 days old today 1944.

Talk to your relatives now, before you regret it later.

We had an Uncle - John, we barely knew due to distance and his age. As near as I can determine he was in the army during WWl and survived.

Dad had 3 brothers, all four survived.
I know Dad was in a reserved occupation - "A reserved occupation (also known as essential services) is an occupation considered important enough to a country that those serving in such occupations are exempt—in fact forbidden—from military service."
I know one Uncle "did his bit" must get more from the lass.
The other two survived, but I have not got a bleeping clue whether they, like dad, were exempt/forbidden or, Like Charlie, were amongst the lucky ones.

(I just discovered today that reserved occupations were "-in fact forbidden-" from going out.
