A Lovely Day

A good start to the day. Quick outing with the two grand dogs, followed by a leisurely breakfast and a decent walk with them up Colinton Dell. I've missed this since they moved out to Musselburgh, for I used to take them every day. Today it was mellow and the sun was shining. Later we went in to town for a light lunch and a wander through the Grassmarket, which was very cosmopolitan apart from an incredibly high police presence. After lunch a wander down the Royal Mile and a brief chat to a police officer (they were everywhere). She said that they were prepared for trouble, for some groups had intimated that they would try to do something. Nothing happened that we saw. We found Dunbar's close and the "secret garden" as my grandson calls it. Its simple and beautifully quiet. I had hoped for some interesting shots in town but suddenly the day deteriorated so it had to be a flower shot from the garden and a run to a cafe for coffee. Home again and it's pouring. Ah well, it looks like a cosy night in.
