A Year Captured

The Royal Spurt

This is King Fahd's Fountain in Jeddah. Generously donated by the King in 1983, at around 1,000ft it is the highest in the world.

After a pretty heavy afternoon of absorbing a lot of new information, it was nice to get out for a couple of hours in the evening. A colleague and I went to the Cornish (waterfront) where I gazed out towards Egypt at the sun setting over the Red Sea.

Sounds pretty cool but actually there was polluted water, crap everywhere and manky wild cats roaming around.

The fountain was pretty impressive but you couldn't help think how expensive it would be to run, the pumps must be huge. The cost would be the least of their worries however and probably not that much anyway given diesel sells for US 6 cents per litre!
