Stuck in the mud

An oyster dredger sits patiently in the exposed mud at low tide in Cooks Shipyard, Wivenhoe.

The Colne oyster fishery dates back to Roman times and was recorded in the Domesday book of 1086. In keeping with tradition, it is opened each September with a grand ceremony.
