Rhododendron Fading

The rhododendrons by the roadside are in full flower and there is a riot of purple ponticum almost everywhere you look in Argyll though that might soon be a sight from the past as there is a campaign underway to eradicate them because of their role in spreading Phytophthora ramorum

However in gardens the spring rhododendrons are already fading fast. This pink one , blown by this weekend's winds, will soon be without flowers for another year.
