A Day With Anne:

Looking forward to a lovely day today. Malcolm is on his business trip and we are setting off to have lunch at Rheged.

Cc ended up with some sort of hash, and very nice it looked too – I was almost envious of the beautifully poached egg sat on the top. However, I didn’t feel I could tackle anything more than a bowl of Minestrone soup. And of course a Latte.

We had booked in for the 1pm showing of a film about Scafell but were rather surprised to find that for a quite a long while we were the only people in the theatre. It’s not a particularly big theatre but it does boast a screen the size of six double decker buses.

The film, of course, was about the beautiful Cumbrian scenery and various people associated with it and it lasted two solid hours. No intervals, sale of popcorn or ice cream - just two hours of mountains caught in every possible type of weather.

At some stage during this a number of schoolchildren came in. I wonder what they made of it – apparently it wasn’t even the film they had come to see! I think they had missed their connection or something and arrived an hour too late for the showing of their film.

Film over, it was time for another Latte and that was when we were seated facing what were to become our blips. These huge lanterns of birds made by the local people were originally for a parade and then loaned to Rheged. The last time I was here there were huge cattle lanterns down the corridor.

Then we had a scenic run home before a delicious salmon salad.

A little chat, a little drink and then I went straight to bed.
