In the Pink

The vivid colours of the Escallonia rather disguised the beautiful red admiral butterfly which was making hay while the sun shone this morning.

Flitting over the abundantly flowering shrub, dipping into each little pink trumpet the butterfly was in heaven. Every time I crept up though it seemed to sense my presence and moved on higher out of the way. In the end I resorted to step ladders. Not that that was any more successful!

I managed it in the end thankfully as we then had torrential rain.
