Dutchman's Pipe

(Aristolochia macrophylla) This is a large leafed healthy vine that is growing on the corner of our front porch (has been there for many many years). It flowers every spring and the flowers look similar to dutch smoking pipes. It goes completely bare during the winter and then comes out with the large heart shaped leaves in the spring. Sometimes it sends vines along the ground and tries to grow up in the plants and small trees, but it is easily curtailed.

Drizzly, rainy day, but not chilly at least. Mr M was determined to finish planting the garden, so he has muddied several pairs of pants and lots of socks. I confined myself to working in the house. And now I will have plenty of laundry to do. Not complaining, looking forward to the produce.
