Why did the tortoise cross the road ........??

......... Because I made him!!! I saw the silly thing wandering around in the middle of the road so had to stop and rescue him from being squashed. From Googling I discovered that he was a Gopher tortoise, indigenous to Florida, and his size made him around 15 years old. I have to say it was brilliant to see one in his natural surroundings even though he clearly had no road sense!
