Island of the Blessed

We had arranged to meet a friend of mine and his wife for lunch but awoke to torrential rain all morning.

After a couple of emails to check that the Marram Grass Cafe allowed dogs indoors we set off for our lunch date as planned.

The food was excellent and by the time we finished lunch the sun was shining so we all went off to nearby Newborough Beach.

John and Lesley have a house in North Wales about 20 mins from Anglesey so they were well acquainted with the area.

Newborough beach has to be seen to be believed. Long stretches of golden sand, lovely blue sea and in one direction forest and in the other Snowdonia and hills.

At the end of the beach is a little island that you can walk to when the tide is out - Island of the Blessed. So we walked all the way there and to the very end where this photo is taken and then walked back to the car park via the forest path.

It was a lovely day and once we got back to the cottage it was time for a Pimms or two.
