Beauly Priory

Backblip.

Today was rather dreich but it did nt put us off exploring. We spent most of the day in Beauly. We were able to walk round the old priory ruins inbetween downpours. Not much remains some of the stone thought to used to build Oliver Cromwells citadel in 1652. It is now under the care of Historic Scotland and is at present being restored so part of the ruins are enclosed in fencing and scaffolding.

We had a great lunch at the Old School House and spent a leisurely time looking in the gift and craft shops. I bought a book of old Scottish poems and songs for children that I thought would be great for Brownies.

We popped to the farm shop and bought some local strawberries for tea.
We went to the station to see the shortest Platform in Great Britain, just long enough for one carriage.

We did see a variety of birds at the feeders including a few yellow hammers and a red legged partridge. No Badger sightings tonight.
