Orioles Are Not the Only Birds...

... that eat oranges. The red-bellied woodpeckers like them too.

Still, it took a while. I'd been feeding the orioles for about three weeks before the woodpeckers got in on the act. But when they go for the orange they absolutely monster it - every last bit gets eaten, except the peel. It's quite funny to watch.

The only other birds, apart from orioles and hummingbirds, that have come for orange pieces were a small warbler, probably an immature Cape May, that visited for a few days in the spring, and a rose-breasted grosbeak. Birds don't have expressions of course, but they do have body language of sorts. And the grosbeak's body language said "Yuk"!
