Full Steam on Ribblehead Viaduct.

Loco no 48151, LMS 8F Class 2-8-0 going over the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct in North Yorkshire under full steam this morning. This ‘Fellsman’ steam tour runs the beautiful Settle to Carlisle route hauling a train of twelve vintage coaches. The highlight of the route is the crossing of the world famous Ribblehead Viaduct, also known as Batty Moss Railway Viaduct, a listed structure high on Blea Moor. Constructed between 1870 and 1874, it is 400m (440 yds) long, the longest, largest and most impressive of the viaducts on the Settle-Carlisle line. There are 24 segmental arches, and the land underneath and around the viaduct, where the remains of the construction camp and navvy settlements known as Batty Wife Hole, Sebastopol and Belgravia were located, is a scheduled ancient monument.
