Rome

So we had arrived in Rome the previous afternoon in perfect time to go out for dinner and drinks in Trastevere, spent a lot of time trying to track down the best places to eat which were not extortionately expensive and touristy.
Managed to cover pretty much most of Rome I would say on the Monday, walking everywhere. We were staying in an apartment quite close to Piazza Navona so we started there before heading towards the Pantheon and the Trevi fountain, stopping for the obligatory gelato break and to go into the massive Lindt shop, of course. Then in the afternoon we headed to the forum and the colosseum which was unfortunately largely covered in scaffolding. I actually cannot escape it, I swear everywhere in Italy is covered by it. Stupid restoration projects. Anyway, other than failing to get a decent picture of the colosseum unhindered by scaffolding, it was a pretty successful if tiring day!
