La vida de Annie

Liza Tarbuck...

... a big lady with a big heart too, a truly lovely person. This was taken between scenes while filming The Be All And End All, in which she played the ward sister in hospital scenes, #2 daughter had a supporting role as the love interest of one of the main characters, and I was an extra playing a hospital visitor. My "role" involved sitting by a bed for two whole weeks (perhaps as well as I was on crutches following a foot operation at the time), but after the editing I am visible for about 2 seconds if you know where to look and don't blink...

This was filmed in a real hospital (Broadgreen in Liverpool) but was a mocked-up ward created in some empty rooms down a disused corridor. Liza is a smoker and had to step outside in costume for regular fag breaks, during which people often asked her for directions. After getting fed-up of the surprised reaction when she said she didn't know where anything is, she took to just sending people anywhere, in the hope that a real nurse would sort them out when they got lost. In the coffee bar she was recognised by a couple of patients, one of whom said that it's well-known that actors take other jobs when they're out of work..... Not much chance of that; she's always in demand.
