A Replanting

I wouldn't have thought that it was over a year since the Edwardian postbox on our road (old as an oak tree) was demolished in a car accident.. Time passes as rapidly as I've become used to, though in this neighbourhood they do their best to make it slow down, or even go backwards.

Initially the council very quickly replaced it with a standard innocuous modern (more boxy) box and I remember a neighbour saying he was going to write letters, etc. to make sure they replaced that with, at the very least, an Edwardian replica.

So, they have now done so, and it isn't a replica but another original the workers claimed to have removed from some place where locals don't raise quite as much of a stink about postbox styles. 'They didn't complain as much as you lot,' said one of them, though he may have been pulling our legs. As with the previous box, you can see patches of red, pre-Independence paint where the green flaked off (they are apparently going to repaint it).

Anyway, I'm glad I caught the replanting. The ghost of Johnny Fortycoats will be happy.
