FOUNDERS DAY

This day 116 years ago the Christchurch Model Yacht club(CMYC) was born!!
Its been in situ. continuously since that time. It is believed to be one of the oldest model yacht clubs in the world. The founders met in a local public house and discussed the merits or otherwise of it and it was subsequently born.
Nowadays its all radio control = back then it was set the sails, push off and away - running around the other side to collect it and send it off again on the other tack until the course was completed.
Here in this pic the various classes of boats are giving room to round the third mark. About thirty boats were celebrating the day - a glorious midwinters afternoon. well done the founders !
