Orange Poppy

This is an ordinary (dare I say this?) "garden variety" Papaver oriental. As far as I know this is not a named cultivar. It grows along the white picket fence of the vegetable garden, a giant mound of hairy leaves sporting huge intensely-colored dramatic flowers. A fleeting late spring display. After flowering, even the leaves will disappear for the summer.
