Before the singing begins...

We went to a concert of the Clifton Singers in the church of St Aidan with St George in Bristol this evening. We used to sing in the choir, and they were performing some choral arrangements of songs by Bohuslav Martinu that I made for the choir some years ago. First time I've hear them from an audience's point of view!

The church is curious. It is pretty big, but only consists of the choir, which you can see in the blip, and the first two bays of the nave, which was probably intended to have six or eight bays. The west end is simply closed up with a brick wall. It was built in 1903-4, and I surmise ran out of funds! For such a big church, the audience was a tad disappointing - only 17 of us! The choir is 22 strong, so outnumbered us.
