Everyday I Write The Book

Drummer wanted

Denmark Street, at the hub of Soho, Fitzrovia and Seven Dials, is a place to go and buy musical instruments and make connections. The alleyway by Hanks Guitar Store looks like a post apocalyptic message wall, but in fact it is all about bands looking for drummers or vocalists looking for bands, or even songwriters looking for their muse.

It was a good walk, one that later took us via Fleet Street down to the river and along the Thames at Bankside back to Waterloo. Dipped into the newly refurbished Foyles which saddened me; old Foyles was a vast bohemian jumble of books, with a style best described as Hay-On-Wye meets Diagon Alley. Now it's just another soulless modern bookstore with a cafe and people like me photographing the stock for inspiration for their Kindle purchases. Enjoyed Wild Food in Neal'sYard 'though; lovely spot for people watching.

I needed some fresh air after a morning spent emptying the kitchen for the fitters on Monday. Now, when you walk out of the first floor bathroom, you find 25 carrier bags of dried and tinned food lining the landing. Be glad when its all over.
