" The lone chick"

This little chick hatched this morning in an incubator which has been humming away for the last 3 weeks in our dining room - so far it is the only one to appear out of a batch of eggs bought by son #1. I think this is going to be a learning process as he has not incubated eggs before.

It is supposed to be a Jersey Giant but time will tell - it certainly has a big voice but I just hope some of the other eggs hatch otherwise it is going to be a bit lonely unless he can get another hen with chicks at the farm to adopt it.
