Sheep Country.

This flock of Border Leicester sheep are the centrepiece of the £1.2 million Lockerbie town centre improvement scheme.

The art was commissioned to celebrate the importance of sheep to the town and to the rural economy in this part of southern Scotland.

The sculptures made of brass are life-sized and are surrounded by a sheep fold type wall ideal for sitting and relaxing while watching life on the busy Main Street.

Shopkeepers complain that the sheep take up valuable shop-door parking space but I think that is taking a very blinkered view.

Ten out of ten to the council for supporting something different, unique and special for this border town that was much in need of a facelift and a diversion from tragic events.
