Emma D's diary

At Ruardean: Vibrant food

I am photographing at Lodge Farm Kitchen again. The kitchen is always like a artists palate. Brightly coloured ingredients in this bowl and that. All ready to be mixed, concocted in to a new design, the new canvas of a whole new dish.

Its quite unbelievable that all this handmade attention goes into a ready meal. In fact the words "ready meal" connote so many vibes of tasteless plastic prefabricated dished from the 80's that I hardly dare type them.

The point is that this is reinvention. starting from scratch. Eradicating all those plastic tastes. The ready meal, reborn. Its hand made, just like if you had the time to do it yourself. You dont feel guiltily about feeding it to the kids. Your not spending half an hour over the calorie, fat and salt level on the package.

These meals just are what they are. A mixture of passion, real food, love and colour. A real ready meal.
