On your marks...

Spotted these slightly strange figures in a shop window in TC Rd when I was on the way to work this morning. What are they meant to be? They look as if they're about to start a race but they're rather fat for runners. Sumo wrestlers? Swimmers about to dive into a pool? Buddhas who want to be reincarnated as dogs?
