Sea of Spinach

Another beautiful evening, another trip to the allotment where lots of little jobs needed done. While S was giving the veggie and berry beds their first good hosing of the year I started to strip out the spinach. It's seriously bolted! I gave up picking baby spinach leaves when the sun started to set, not a job I'd recommend as a career move, and have just spent an hour washing them to get rid of whitefly eggs which seem to stick to leaves with the insect equivalent of araldite!

Maybe the Spanish football team could have done with some spinach of their own tonight, they certainly needed something to kick-start their game. Too late now though, adios amigos!
