Lost in such vistas of Solstice Confusion

Heading West To River Land We
Linger out Farewell, Misch&Wil&Me

Heading West into the River Country
We gaze up to the Oak, bittersweet at parting.
A thousand Oakhills rise into ranges,
Ten thousand streams lacing into the Delta
and where muddy shallows get to deep
long stilts make risky crossings into breeze
No reason to grieve us wandering pilgrims
lost in such vistas of Solstice Confusion.

(Variation on Meng Haoran’s Poem: Heading
West up the Che River, transl. David Hinton)
