Summer Evening on Tennyson Down

It was far to glorious an evening to stay indoors at the camera club so we went out for a camera walk onto Tennyson Down.

This is the view looking towards Freshwater Bay and the chalk cliffs of Compton Bay. The spectacular Military Road which traverses the South of the Island can be seen climbing out of Freshwater Bay whilst running parallel is the long distance footpath of the Tennyson Trail.

To the left of the trail is Afton Down which was the site of the infamous 1970 Isle of Wight Festival. Hard to believe that upwards of 700,000 people were crammed into this small area.
