A Special Day

Today I was up in Sutton on Lake Simcoe on a teaching assignment and we had a special treat as some First Nation people came to visit from Georgina Island on Lake Simcoe. They had a drum ceremony and had the whole school participate in blessing the school play ground and thanking Mother Earth. It was a lovely ceremony outside but what made it extra special was that there were two large ospreys gliding in the sky above while the ceremony took place. I saw at the far back of the playground was a tall post and a huge nest with one baby osprey sitting in it. I was able to get a picture at the end of the day of the little one from a bit of a distance. I think the the parents were probably out fishing. A wonderful and memorable Special Day!
