Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud ......

Nothing quite like it, apparently, although we couldn't work out what for. Today we drove down to San Pedro del Pinatar, famous for its saltwater lagoon the Mar Menor, where we took a stroll along the extremely long spit of land that helps to form the lagoon and were intrigued by the vast numbers of people caking themselves in the mud from the lagoon bed then hanging themselves out to dry before rising it off.

This lot seemed to be taking the additional option of covering themselves in salt from this small stream. The mud and salt are high in minerals it seems but how they are beneficial was unclear though lots of people were focussing on their joints only, which made for some interesting body art.

We restricted our health-consciousness to watching these scenes on our walk, listening to some energetic sounding fitness classes coming from the upstairs room of a gym and lunching on tapas at a beach-side bar, although we did swim for half an hour when we got back.

Another BBQ, and a couple of bottles of wine that needed finishing seem to have accounted for the rest of Friday.
