How tall is an orchid?

Ceridwen inspired me to take a walk with the dog in the cool in the wood that featured in yesterday's photograph. The orchids are now past their best but I saw a few, Common Spotted I guess. There are Butterfly Orchids but I didn't see any today as they are usually further up the hill. Yellow flags and water lilies in the pond and there were quite a few Ringlet butterflies looking quite dark in the sunshine.

The old game keeper's hut in the background has now been boarded up with police tape all over it. The corrugated iron is where through the windows the drug dealers broke into the building and hid their drugs. Such a horrific happening in a quiet isolated English wood. The carpark has now been closed since teenagers were racing down the lane in the late afternoons thr0ugh the dead-end hamlet at about 70 mph to turn the corner and have a thrill riding up the rough potholed track to the wood and their prize. Never mind the small children playing outside the cottages. It was horrendous.

T has been busy baling our neighbours hay as she is really on her own since her father died on Christmas Day. N was busy turning our hay. Another hot day.

Oh, and there were two Greater Spotted Woodpeckers feeding off the nuts in the garden. I couldn't quite see whether one of them was the other's progeny.
