Queen of memories

And the bells tolled and everyone in the town knew who they rang for and each looked to their heart and saw a reflection of guilt soaked in crimson for they could have done more. A blind eye, a sudden dreamt up errand, an easy excuse, a detoured walk. Easier not to say. Not now.

'On average, every week in the UK at least one child is killed at the hands of another person' NSPCC fact sheet.

The graveyard overlooking Porthmeor in St Ives is amazing. I strolled through earlier in stunning light and felt the hand of history touch my shoulders. Most graves are quite old now and most are fairly traditional in line with the lack of wealth in this fishing community. This beautiful statue therefore stands out. I looked at headstones of 92 year olds and 2 year olds and reckoned on the total fragility that is our life. I was reminded too in my own mind that whilst many face death due to nature, many have it dreadfully stolen away from them.

We must watch out for the sick, the vulnerable in our society. It could easily have been us or one day be us and they, they need us.
