old and new

The Monks Road Wesleyan Methodist Church is just up the road from where we live and Yesterday it celebrated 100 years , so it is quite a modern church.
So today i decided to take a shot of it which is best viewed LARGE.

The Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on Monks road is first depicted on the Ordnance Survey map of 1905. It is likely that the chapel was built during the late Victorian to early Edwardian expansion of the city (1895 to 1910).
Building accounts and other documents relating to the chapel suggest a building date of 1907.
The Edwardian building fronts onto Walmer Street, which is what can been seen down the right hand side with a 1960s extension to the north which fronts onto Monks Road which is where the shot is taken from.

This church is special to our family My Mum and Dad got married here and I was Christened here as well.
As kids my sister and myself use to go to toddler group here and Sunday School.
