Solheimajokull Glacier

Please view LARGE

Another fabulous day in Iceland, with a visit across a 5km sand flat to Ingólfshöfði island to photograph Great Skuas and Puffins - surprised to see puffin numbers down dramatically on last year.

Vik church was gloriously surrounded by lupins, which offered more great shots. But we ended the day with a fabulous walk on the Solheimajokull Glacier - there's nothing to beat the feel of walking across a glacier - especially when you think the ice you are walking on can be between 300 and 1000 years old.

I shot this standing right next to this crevasse from as low a viewpoint as I could manage.
