A concrete love affair

Boundary Defining

Didn't plan it, but made a 7 mile walk today which took me from countryside to city centre.

The changing houses, roads, land uses, shops and density was massively perceptible on foot and this bridge is where the urban realm began.

In the sunshine of midsummer the brake dust on the ring road heavies the air, bright red poppies grow beside the supermarket delivery yards of memory, valets of expensive car dealerships gaze out suspiciously, phone towers cluster beside the traffic light crossroads, two back to base business man leap the dualler with a purpose only each other can define, bus shelters battered with graffiti greet the Victoriana, pavement cyclists wobble, hipsters smoke rollies reading novels from first floor windows, as I pass first time moved out of home streets I imagine this road a decade ago recalling the wonder of where they might lead and suddenly they are special again...
